Voices on the Heart
by Graciela Roman
For freshmen, graduation may seem as though it is an eternity away. They tend to think that they have all the time in the world to get things done before that defining moment, whereas seniors look back and realize how fast the time went by here at Earlham College. As they prepare to face the real world, seniors reminisce about their experiences and think about what they might have done differently. Seniors around campus responded to the questions “Is there anything that you wish you had done during your time here at Earlham that you didn’t do?” and “What will you miss most about Earlham?”
“I kind of wish I would have gone abroad. I really wanted to go to Greece or Spain. I’ll miss the people the most. I’ve made a lot of friends here and I’ll miss the good times we had.”
— Tasha Merrill, psychology major
“I wish I would have taken advantage and gotten more involved with clubs and organizations and been a little more outgoing in the beginning. I’ll miss the people the most.”
— James Haley, biochemistry major
“I wish I would have done more wilderness programs. I’ll miss the community here the most.”
— Emma Bohmann, psychology major
“I wish I would have stopped caring sooner. I’m going to miss having such a high density of people my age being around me at all times.”
— Xander Rowland, biochemistry major
“I wish I would have started a double dutch team.”
— Justin Berkheimer, philosophy major
